Detailed information about MR examination 

Under the effect of magnetic field, the MRI system transmits layer-by-layer images of the examined area to the computer, where using special software, its three-dimensional image is simulated with a minimum scan slice thickness of 0.5-1 mm. The radiologist sees the examined body area in view of the slice in detail.

Contraindications to MRI
  • Any electric or magnetic implant (e.g. implanted artificial heart drivers (cardiac pacemakers), insulin pump biostimulators, neurostimulators, cochlear implants, and hearing aids).
  • Presence of metal in the body, e.g.:
    • osteosynthesis devices – metal bone fixation devices for treatment of complex fractures,
    • non-fixed materials in the body containing metal particles – splinters, shot,
    • haemostatic clips on blood vessels, surgical clamps (except for those made of titanium).
  • Fear of being in a small space – claustrophobia, tic disorders, epilepsy.
  • Chest, abdomen or hip circumference of more than 140 cm.

Contraindications to contrast-enhanced MRI:

  • Pregnancy and lactation – the contrast agent penetrates through general circulation, foetal tissue, or breast milk.
  • Hypersensitivity (allergic reactions) to the contrast agent used.
